Junior Achievement is the world's largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit economic education organization, reaching nearly four million elementary, middle and high school students in the United States annually. Since 1919, JA has been evolving to meet the demands of a complex, changing world, adapting new ideas and techniques to educate and inspire young people to value free enterprise, understand business and economics and be workforce ready.

Junior Achievement of Western North Carolina began serving mountain children with a single after-school program in 1978. From those humble beginnings, JAWNC now serves more than 5000 children in public school classrooms throughout the region, inspiring them to explore the world of business, stay in school, and consider entrepreneurship for their career.For the past 26 years, your JA has worked closely with the region’s business leaders to provide volunteers and economics curricula for the schools. It is due to the generosity of those businesses that JA can provide free programs for approximately 220 classrooms each year.
