It isn't just the data that tells us Junior Achievement works….it is the testimonials we hear each and every day!

I have been involved in Junior Achievement since 2000.  I am proud that WBS was chosen for the pilot program that year, and we have enjoyed working with JA each year since then.  It is a wonderful program and is very well aligned to the NC Standard Course of Study for Social Studies.  The focus of JA is on the global economy and how the free enterprise system works.  The JA format gives each student relevant and hands-on learning experiences that expand their opportunities to be successful, contributing members in the global world of work.  Since JA is taught by community volunteers, it promotes involvement in the schools, and provides a platform for parents and the business community to contribute.  It is definitely a win-win opportunity for schools.

I first saw an ad for Junior Achievement on Encore; it took me three weeks to actually inquire about it.  I am so thrilled I did.  I volunteer for a mix class of first and second graders.  Their eagerness to learn and volunteer in activities makes my heart smile.  Every time I walk into the class room they say 'Hello Ms. Rachel'.  I am on my fourth week and I can see the positive difference in the students as our discussion become a little more in depth.  We discussed taxes last week and I could see their little light bulbs turn on.  It is amazing what the results are when you spend time with them.  Being apart of Junior Achievement is such a fulfilling experience whether you are a volunteer or a student.
