Compared to students in general, JA students*: ·Have a more positive self-concept and higher self-esteem. ·Are more confident in their ability to complete college (98% versus 60%) ·Are more likely to attend college (73% versus 60%) ·Are more likely to attend college and select a business-related major (25% versus 15%) *Fleishman Hillard 2005 Awareness & Perception Study It isn't just the data that tells us Junior Achievement works….it is the testimonials we hear each and every day! - Pansy Rumley, Principal WrightsvilleBeach Elementary I first saw an ad for Junior Achievement on Encore; it took me three weeks to actually inquire about it. I am so thrilled I did. I volunteer for a mix class of first and second graders. Their eagerness to learn and volunteer in activities makes my heart smile. Every time I walk into the class room they say 'Hello Ms. Rachel'. I am on my fourth week and I can see the positive difference in the students as our discussion become a little more in depth. We discussed taxes last week and I could see their little light bulbs turn on. It is amazing what the results are when you spend time with them. Being apart of Junior Achievement is such a fulfilling experience whether you are a volunteer or a student. - JA Volunteer, Alliance Credit Union | |
