Junior Achievement is a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers — all working together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential.  JA's hands-on, experiential programs teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to young people all over the world.

Junior Achievement began serving Cape Fear students as Project Business in 1986 and organized as JA in 1996. JA programs now reach nearly 5,000 children in public and private school classrooms throughout the Wilmington area each year, inspiring them to explore the world of business, stay in school and consider entrepreneurship for their career. JA works in partnership with the area's business leaders to provide volunteers and economics-based programs in our schools. It is due to the generosity of those businesses that JA can provide programs for over 225 classrooms each school year.
